Fakenham Mens’ Probus Club is a monthly lunch club for retired, semi-retired and soon to be retired men from all walks of professional, business and executive life.

The aim of the club is to provide new opportunities for friendship and fellowship amongst contemporaries; being particularly suitable for men who have just retired and who are making the difficult transition from a busy working environment to a more relaxed way of life.

Some of the drawbacks with retirement can be a sense of insularity, the loss of contact with a varied group of people and the feeling of a real need for some additional mental stimulation. This is what Probus sets out to counter. We are a club for those looking for a wider social life and a forum where they can exercise their minds without any pressure to attend regularly or raise money for charity.

We meet simply to enjoy ourselves in the company of others.

Our Monthly meetings

We meet on the second Monday of every month at a pleasant, relaxing venue: the Gallow Fakenham Sports Centre.

We assemble from 10.30am for coffee and a chat with friends, old and new.

At 11.00am an invited speaker gives a talk on a topic of general interest and then takes questions from the club members. Our aim is to provide a varied and wide ranging programme, presented by enthusiastic and energetic speakers.

A business meeting follows which is always kept as short as possible!

At around midday, we retire to the bar to enjoy a convivial drink together. This usually provides an opportunity to talk informally with our speaker.

At 12.30 we sit together to enjoy a fine two course lunch, prepared and cooked on the premises. This is home cooking at its best! Lunch is, of course, optional.

After the lunch, we disperse at our leisure.
